The Hébrard foundry in less than a minute
In 1902, he opened his own foundry in the 15th arrondissement of Paris.
At the same time, he set up a gallery and a publishing house.
The Hébrard Foundry was quickly successful thanks to the remarkable quality of the bronzes and the talented founders: Marcello Valsuani, Adolphe Gruet, and the workshop manager Albino Palazzo.
The castings were very detailed thanks to the lost wax cast in a single jet. In order to make the bronze undergo the vicissitudes suffered by ancient bronzes for centuries, they buried the sculpture and treated the patina several times.
The name Hébrard is also known thanks to his quality of merchant. He was one of the first to limit the number of prints. He discovered many artists, such as Rembrandt Bugatti and Joseph Bernard. However, his methods and his exclusive contracts were highly criticized by his artists.
The foundry closed in 1934, under the management of Hébrard's daughter.
In 1940, the workshop was destroyed by a bombing.
Today, Hébrard bronzes are still highly respected and sought after by art dealers.
