Highlights of the 19 October auction
From Fautrier to Yves Klein via Lindström's Ivresse!
Jean Fautrier could take the lead in this sale with his 1957 Construction, an oil and pigment on paper mounted on canvas (€75,000/90,000). Aptly named, Bengt Lindström's Ivresse solaire, painted in 1988, will command €12,000-15,000. A camp of desert nomads, immortalised by Jules Taupin (around €7,000), is another orientalist piece. A butterfly by Claude Lalanne adds a poetic touch to a gilt bronze torque necklace (€4,000/5,000), to be worn with a Hermès handbag created in gold ostrich around 1995. This "bolide" model will sell for around €5,500. (Gazette Drouot, Friday 13 October 2023)
