4 works by Kiyoshi Hasegawa at auction

Hasegawa Kiyoshi is a painter of animated landscapes, still life, flowers, gouache painter, watercolorist, printmaker, illustrator. After graduating from Meiji University in Tokyo, he studied oil painting with Okada Saburōsuke (1869-1939) and Fujishima Takeji. In 1912, he began to practice woodcutting and, in 1913, copperplate engraving.
After a brief stay in the United States in 1918, he came to Paris in 1919, where he spent his entire career. He exhibited from 1923 onwards at various Salons including the Salon d'Automne, where he was a member of the jury in 1961, the Salon des Tuileries, the Salon des Indépendants and the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, where he was a member of the jury in 1964. In 1934, he participated in the organization of an important exhibition of modern Japanese prints, intended to be shown in several capitals1.
Since 1957, Hasegawa has been included in the Tokyo International Print Biennale. In 1965, he was included in the major exhibition of Japanese artists living abroad at the Musée d'art moderne de la ville de Paris.
