Max Agostini

MAX-AGOSTINI was born in Paris in 1914, of Corsican origin through his grandparents. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and discovered a real talent for Impressionism.

Incorporated into the French Army for five years at the beginning of the Second World War, MAX-AGOSTINI was taken prisoner for three years.

During the post-war period, he made a name for himself as an excellent portraitist and landscape painter in Châteauroux, where he worked for several years. Later, he settled in Gargilesse in Berry and in Provence. He died in January 1997 and was still painting his most beautiful canvases a few days before his hospitalization.

 Fiche détaillée

Recognized throughout the world as one of the greatest colorists of his time, numerous vernissages in Paris in his presence allowed his admirers to get to know the man as much as his painting. "Fields of Lavender" or "Poppies," "Bright Spring Countryside," "River Water Reflections," "Still Life" and "Bouquets," have made him the leader of contemporary Impressionism.
