The ceramics
In 1946, Picasso visited the annual exhibition in Vallauris with Françoise Gilot and made his first attempts at Suzanne and Georges Ramié's Madoura workshop.

The subjects
A decoration on traditional forms such as jugs, plates or less traditional objects
The decorations and forms take up recurring themes of his work: animals, bullfighting, still life, and are treated with the most diverse techniques: incised decoration, engobed, enamelled...

Editions

3 types

1- The unique pieces, numbering 2000, dated 1947 or 48 and 1000 others until 1971
The "original ceramic work" are issued from the hand of the artist without the intention to reproduce it, they are all dated.

2- The authentic replica to the number of 273 models in several copies: on the form of a piece chosen for model, the decoration is entirely made by Picasso. Techniques for vases, pitchers and jugs are mostly from this technique.
