Perspectives on the 20th Century: Photographs, Posters, and Works on Paper
From artists’ studios to movie sets, from leading figures of the avant-garde to icons of music and entertainment, this selection brings together an exceptional collection of photographs, posters, and works on paper spanning nearly a century of creativity and cultural life. Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Kees van Dongen, Pierre Soulages, César, Joséphine Baker, Serge Gainsbourg, John Lennon, and even the Rolling Stones appear alongside artists who are less well-known today but essential to the richness of the 20th-century art scene. As privileged witnesses to their era, these works and documents offer a journey through modern art, cinema, photography, music hall, and the avant-garde, revealing both the private lives of the creators and the major cultural movements that shaped the last century.
