The Madoura workshop, founded in 1938 by Suzanne and Georges Ramié, was famous for having collaborated with Pablo Picasso. It was through Picasso that Baya was invited to work at Madoura. The Madoura period was very productive for Baya, who created hundreds of ceramic pieces, ranging from small bowls and vases to monumental sculptures. She used traditional pottery techniques and also experimented with forms and patterns inspired by traditional Algerian art, including textiles and Berber ceramics.
