CESAR (1921-1998) - Jewel - Compression in silver - Signed and numbered 20/20 - height 4 cm Note: Throughout his career, César created various categories of "portable sculptures" or "jewelry-sculptures". These works adopted shapes such as plates, rods, or other geometric forms obtained by compressing or crushing existing pieces of goldsmithery, as well as by using less precious elements such as bottle caps. Recent transactions of these pieces testify to collectors' enthusiasm for the powerful symbolism of these objects and the finesse of their craftsmanship. These portable sculptures evoke deep emotion due to the very intimate and memorial nature of the elements that compose them. They also captivate with their chaotic material, which seems to contain within itself the shapes of the jewels to come.
