Scarified decoration - lines incised into slip or glaze before firing - is a technique typical of Vallauris workshops, offering expressive texture and marked graphics. Henri Cimal was one of the craftsmen who contributed to the development of Vallauris' artistic ceramics in the post-war period, alongside other modernist designers. A coherent decorative ensemble, representative of the Galerie Palissy style.
