Alfred François HAUTECOEUR (1824-1882) - Lot 17
Alfred François HAUTECOEUR (1824-1882) The Medici Fountain, Paris, circa 1870 Albumen print Captioned at bottom of image Wet stamp on back Dimensions: 27.3 x 20.8 cm Note: A superb albumen print by Alfred François Hautecœur, circa 1870, depicting the Fontaine de Médicis in Paris. Through his sense of framing and the finesse of his lighting, the photographer elegantly restores the poetry of the Jardin du Luxembourg and the atmosphere of 19thᵉ century Paris. With a caption at the bottom of the image and a wet stamp on the back, this print bears witness to the sensitive eye of a pioneer of urban photography.
