French school - Lot 34

French school Portrait of a man Gouache on paper Signed lower right and dated 2012 Size with frame: 46 x 31 cm Note: This Portrait of a Man captures a face in a silent, introspective atmosphere. The artist uses gouache in visible, almost fragmented strokes, mixing purples, pinks, grays and ochres to modulate the volumes of the face and translate the complexity of skin tones. Areas of light, applied in small layers, contrast with a neutral background that isolates the model and reinforces the presence of her gaze behind finely rendered glasses. This superimposition of nuances and materials gives the portrait a soft, thoughtful expression, lending it a discreet yet sensitive psychological depth.
