Henri GOETZ (1909-1989) Abstract composition, circa 1950-1960 Etching on paper Signed in pencil lower right Proof numbered in pencil lower left (legible fraction: approx. 8/25) 48.5 x 54.5 cm Note: Horizontal abstract etching in predominantly green, blue and ochre, articulated around floating geometric forms and fragmented organic masses. The composition plays on a superimposition of planes, alternating translucent zones and denser flat tints, creating a rhythmic, almost narrative reading. The formal vocabulary evokes post-Cubist and lyrical research of the post-war period, with particular attention paid to color, which is rarer in the artist's engraved work than strictly monochrome compositions.
