Note: Originally from the Netherlands, Belgian artist Bram Bogart (1921-2012) is one of the founding painters of informal art, and a fellow traveler of the CoBrA movement. His thick, paste-like paintings in vivid, monochromatic colors demonstrate that matter and chromatic density are co-substantial. Renowned for his abstract and colorful works, Bogart has presented a large number of solo exhibitions and retrospectives, including at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, the Museum of Modern Art in Ostend, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Ghent, the Espace Muséal du Bellevue in Biarritz and the CoBrA Museum in Amstelveen. This unpublished text is accompanied by a unique original painting on cardboard, signed by the artist.
