MONICA VITTI, Italian actress, 1960s - Lot 74
MONICA VITTI, Italian actress, 1960s Photo, vintage silver print Stamped (Cinémonde magazine) and annotated on the back Dimensions: 23.8 x 17.8 cm Some dust in the print. Note: Monica Vitti (1931-2022), Italian actress, was one of the great figures of European cinema in the 1960s. She is particularly associated with the films of Michelangelo Antonioni, with whom she forms one of the most striking artistic couples of modern cinema, notably in L'Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), L'Eclisse (1962) and Il Deserto rosso (1964). Her intense, introspective acting helped define the aesthetic of Italian auteur cinema during this period. She later distinguished herself in comedy roles, becoming one of the most popular actresses in Italian cinema. This photograph, dating from the 1960s, is a sample of the press iconography devoted to the actress at a time when she was establishing herself as one of the major faces of European cinema.
