LES COMPAGNONS DE LA CHANSON AND EDITH PIAF, the art of the - Lot 83
LES COMPAGNONS DE LA CHANSON AND EDITH PIAF, the art of the French vocal, 1940s 4 photos by Studio Harcourt Photographer's credit in a corner of the images (disguised on three photos by black) and annotated on the backs. Dimensions: 24 x 18 cm each. Note: Les Compagnons de la Chanson, the famous French vocal ensemble founded in the 1940s, and Édith Piaf (1915-1963), one of the greatest voices of French chanson, are reunited here in these photographs taken in the 1940s by Studio Harcourt. The group enjoyed considerable success after the Second World War, thanks in particular to their collaboration with Piaf, with whom they performed Les Trois Cloches in 1946, a song that has become emblematic of French chanson. Their association left a lasting mark on the history of harmonized vocal singing and post-war popular song. These images bear witness to this artistic collaboration and to the studio iconography associated with the great figures of French chanson at the time.
