Slight soiling, very slight folding Note: Set of photographs depicting two great figures of XXᵉ century French chanson: Charles Aznavour (1924-2018) and Gilbert Bécaud (1927-2001). Charles Aznavour, often dubbed the "French Sinatra", established himself in the 1950s as one of the major singer-songwriters of French chanson, with an international career marked by hundreds of songs and numerous tours around the world. Gilbert Bécaud, known as "Monsieur 100,000 volts" or "Monsieur Dynamite" for his energy on stage, also enjoyed immense success from the late 1950s onwards, notably with classic songs such as Et maintenant and Nathalie. These photographs, dated 1959 and 1963, illustrate the press iconography devoted to these two artists at the height of their popularity.
