José NICOLAS (1956) - Lot 135

José NICOLAS (1956) Plants, Porquerolles 2015 Silver print Signed, titled and dated on the passepartout Author's stamp, countersigned, titled and dated on the back Image size: 36 x 36 cm Dimensions with passepartout : 50 x 50 cm Note : A photographer attentive to the natural forms and structures of the landscape, José Nicolas here develops a more contemplative approach, verging on an almost abstract style. Far from reportage, his eye lingers on matter, lines and contrasts, revealing a strong graphic dimension. In this image from Porquerolles, the whitened, intertwined branches form a dense, organic network that invades the entire surface. Black and white accentuates the interplay of textures and rhythms, transforming the vegetation into an almost calligraphic composition. Between figuration and abstraction, the image offers a sensitive reading of nature, where light reveals the very structure of the landscape.
