Timo SARPANEVA (1926-2006) Finlandia / Lansetti" molded glass vase Iittala, Finland - circa 1960 Height approx. 11 cm A small molded-textured glass vase with a fully hammered and cracked surface ("ice glass"), typical of Timo Sarpaneva's creations for Iittala in the 1960s. Model with flared neck, free-form quadrangular shape. Chips on neck. Note: Small glass vase cast by Timo Sarpaneva for the Finnish manufacturer Iittala, circa 1960, Finlandia / Lansetti model, typical of post-war Scandinavian design. The hammered, crackled surface, reminiscent of ice, illustrates Sarpaneva's research into material and light, which made Finnish glass internationally renowned. With its free form and highly decorative textured appearance, this vase is a fine example of 1960s Nordic design, sought after by lovers of glassware and modern design.
