Jean-Pierre LE BOUL'CH (1940-2001) - Lot 267
Jean-Pierre LE BOUL'CH (1940-2001) Regard le long des routes, 1977 Fluorescent paint on canvas Signed and dated lower left Countersigned and titled on back 156x170cm Provenance: Venice Biennale, 1978, no. 334. Note: In 1978, Le Boul'ch represented France at the Venice Biennale with a series of paintings entitled "Portraits d'Aurore Clément", taken from a film he had just made. This work belongs to a series created by Jean-Pierre Le Boul'ch from film stills, a process characteristic of his work in the 1970s. The artist developed fluorescent painting, playing on intense chromatic contrasts and optical effects akin to photographic or cinematographic images. The compositions dedicated to Aurore Clément, from which this canvas is taken, mark an important period in his career and were presented at the 1978 Venice Biennale, where he represented France. These large-scale works, on the borderline between painting, film and projected images, are among the most emblematic of his output.
