"Pitiless Bush" by John Brom, 1957 - Lot 59
"Pitiless Bush" by John Brom, 1957 Vintage promotional silver print Dimensions: 30.8 x 30 cm Note : Original promotional photograph from the film, depicting a scene shot on location in an African setting. The frontal framing and square format give the image a strong visual presence. The 30.8 x 30 cm format is atypical for a film promotional photograph from the 1950s, generally ranging from 20 x 25 cm to 24 x 30 cm. This unusual size reinforces the print's documentary interest. La Brousse sans pitié is part of the film production of the 1950s shot in Africa, a period marked by a Western view of colonial territories. Today, promotional photographs of this type are historical documents that bear witness both to adventure cinema and to the cultural and political context of their time. Vintage silver print with high contrast and good definition.
