Note: In this image from the Cilka (Exile) series, Irène Jonas composes a suspended scene between interiority and landscape, where the human figure seems absorbed by the surrounding space. The horizontal framing, cut by the line of the water, establishes a subtle boundary between two worlds: that of the body and that of the liquid element, both protective and unstable. Color, applied in highlights, introduces an almost unreal softness, accentuating the dreamlike, melancholy dimension of the scene. Between solitude, contemplation and drifting, this work evokes a state of inner exile as much as geographical displacement.
