Note: In this night view of the Tuileries, Michel Giniès confronts two temporalities: the classic architecture of the Louvre, stable and monumental, and the Ferris wheel, an ephemeral, luminous structure.
The composition contrasts light and shadow: the bright wheel immediately catches the eye, while the street and facades remain immersed in dense half-light. This contrast dramatizes the scene, creating an almost unreal atmosphere.
The discreet presence of the car and pavement anchor the image in the everyday, but the whole is transcended by the monumentality of the framing and the graphicity of the circular lines. In this way, Giniès transforms a familiar urban landscape into a poetic vision, in which the city becomes both set and spectacle.
