Sabrina and Roland MICHAUD (XXth) - Lot 335

Sabrina and Roland MICHAUD (XXth) Hunter with Eagle, Altai Mountains, Mongolia Lambda print Certificate on back Size : 30 x 40 cm Note: In this photograph, Sabrina and Roland Michaud depict an ancestral relationship between man and animal. The hunter, captured head-on, confidently holds his eagle, embodying a nomadic tradition deeply rooted in the Altai mountains. The dramatic lighting isolates the figures against a dark, almost painterly background, reinforcing the timelessness of the scene. The eagle's piercing gaze, directed off-camera, contrasts with the man's more fixed, introspective gaze, creating a silent tension. The precision of the details - feathers, leather, facial features - underlines both the harshness of the environment and the nobility of the gesture. In this way, the image oscillates between documentary and staging, revealing a world where age-old practices still survive.
