Marcel WIBAULT ( 1904-1998) - Lot 153
Marcel WIBAULT ( 1904-1998) View of the Chamonix area Oil on isorel Signed lower right Située au dos 38 x 46 cm Note: Marcel Wibault (1904-1998), a landscape painter renowned for his mountain views and alpine atmospheres, offers here a sensitive composition of the Mont-Blanc massif at sunrise. In this work, the artist finely renders the luminous variations of early morning, playing on a subtle palette of cool, pinkish tones. The brushstrokes, both structured and vibrant, convey the silent monumentality of the snow-covered peaks. This subject, emblematic of his work, testifies to his attachment to Chamonix and the high mountains, which he has greatly contributed to making known through a style of painting that is both descriptive and poetic.
