David Douglas DUNCAN - Lot 193
David Douglas DUNCAN Picasso at Work Thames & Hudson, Paris, 1996, Photographic Catalog Note: A photographic book by David Douglas Duncan (1916–2018), an American photojournalist and close friend of Pablo Picasso. In July 1957, Duncan followed the painter for two days and two nights in his studio at La Californie in Cannes, while Picasso was painting a portrait of Jacqueline Roque. His photographs capture, step by step, the artist’s creative process, offering an exceptional insight into his work and his private life. Published by Thames & Hudson in 1996, this 64-page hardcover volume brings together 65 duotone photographs, accompanied by a text by Duncan. It is one of the most significant publications dedicated to the special relationship between the photographer and Picasso, whose life and work he documented for nearly seventeen years.
