BREGUET - Lot 162
BREGUET "Type XX Civile" chronograph watch on a steel bracelet, first generation. Bidirectional rotating bezel graduated with Arabic numerals, black dial, painted Arabic numerals and luminescent hands (showing wear), two sub-dials, continuous small seconds at nine o’clock, and 15-minute totalizer at three o’clock, screw-down case back. Mechanical movement. Extendable “race car driver” bracelet in semi-rigid openwork metal (attached). Dial signed BREGUET. Caliber 222. Case back engraved with 2061. Cal.: 38 mm. The watch has been authenticated by BREGUET. We would like to extend our special thanks to Mr. Emmanuel Bréguet for confirming its unbroken provenance dating back to 1957. Provenance: Purchased from BREGUET on July 16, 1957. Held by the same owner to this day. Note: An iconic piece of French watchmaking, this Breguet Type XX features a particularly sought-after configuration with its 15-minute chronograph counter. Bearing the number 2061, it has been authenticated by Breguet, which confirms its purchase on July 16, 1957. A collector’s watch whose appeal lies as much in the instantly recognizable aesthetics of the early Type XX models as in its documented provenance and early date of manufacture.
