GRACE KELLY AND HITCHCOCK - Lot 9
GRACE KELLY AND HITCHCOCK In three Alfred Hitchcock films: "Dial M For Murder" (Le Crime était presque parfait - 1954), "Rear window" (Fenêtre sur cour - 1954) and "To Catch a Thief" (La Main au collet -1954/55) 3 photos, vintage silver prints, credits under images, annotated on one back. Horny corner tip. Approx. 20.5 x 25.3 cm each, including edges. Note: Grace Kelly remains one of the most emblematic figures of 1950s Hollywood cinema. Before becoming Princess of Monaco by marrying Rainier III in 1956, she built a dazzling career marked by her cool elegance, restrained acting and now legendary photogenic talent. Her collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock was particularly memorable. The director saw her as the perfect embodiment of the "Hitchcockian blonde": refined, seemingly unapproachable, but rife with psychological tension. In Le Crime était presque parfait and Fenêtre sur cour (1954), then La Main au collet (1955), she imposed a sophisticated image that made a lasting contribution to the legend of classic American cinema. These promotional photographs testify as much to the aesthetics of Hollywood studios in the 1950s as to the construction of the Grace Kelly icon. Distributed to the press and exhibitors when films were released, these prints helped shape the timeless, glamorous image of American film actors.
