TRANS-EUROP-EXPRESS - Lot 145
TRANS-EUROP-EXPRESS Marie-France Pisier and Jean-Louis Trintignant on the set of alain Robbe-Grillet's film, 1967. 2 photos, vintage silver prints, credits below images (including 1968 US release date), annotated on one back. 20.7 x 25.5 cm each, including edges. Note: Set of two photographs showing Marie-France Pisier and Jean-Louis Trintignant during the shooting of Trans-Europ-Express, a film directed by Alain Robbe-Grillet and released in 1966 (American distribution in 1968). Considered one of the major works of French experimental cinema in the 1960s, this film combines mise en abyme, detective story and fragmented narrative construction in a universe typical of the Nouveau Roman. Jean-Louis Trintignant and Marie-France Pisier play out a sophisticated plot in which fiction and reality merge. Period promotional photographs bearing international release credits are sought-after documents for collectors of auteur and avant-garde European cinema. Note :
