CHAINSAW MASSACRES... - Lot 221
CHAINSAW MASSACRES... 2 films: "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" by Tobe Hooper (1974) and "Motel Hell" (1980). 2 photos, one silver print and the second on vintage RC paper, credits under one image, stamped on one back and annotated on the second. 25.7 x 20.3 cm & 17.8 x 127 cm. Traces of handling on one photo (mostly visible only against the light). Note: Set of two photographs dedicated to two classic American horror films: The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a cult film directed by Tobe Hooper in 1974, and Motel Hell, a horrific comedy directed by Kevin Connor and released in 1980. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is considered one of the most influential films in the history of modern horror cinema. Shot with limited means and a quasi-documentary aesthetic, Tobe Hooper's film revolutionized the genre with its psychological violence, oppressive atmosphere and the now mythical figure of Leatherface. Motel Hell, with its blend of black humor and grotesque horror, was part of the development of American exploitation cinema in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Period promotional photographs of these productions are particularly sought-after by collectors of fantasy and horror cinema, especially when they retain their original exploitation and distribution elements (credits, stamps, annotations).
