JEAN SEBERG AND CHRISTIAN MARQUAND - Lot 202
JEAN SEBERG AND CHRISTIAN MARQUAND The streets of Paris, advertising posters, future classic cars… during the filming of F. Moreuil and F. Collin’s movie *La Récréation*, based on the short story by Françoise Sagan, 1961. Photograph, silver gelatin print on vintage card stock, unmarked on the back. 19.8 x 30 cm, including white borders. Note: This photograph, taken in 1961, shows Jean Seberg and Christian Marquand on the streets of Paris during the filming of *La Récréation*, a film by François Moreuil and Fabien Collin adapted from a short story by Françoise Sagan. Beyond the presence of two prominent figures in the cinema of the era, the image offers a remarkable glimpse into the urban landscape of Paris in the early 1960s, with its advertising posters, storefronts, and automobiles that have since become iconic in automotive history. Jean Seberg, who first came to prominence in *Bonjour tristesse* and was later immortalized in Jean-Luc Godard’s *À bout de souffle*, was then one of the most modern figures in international cinema. This photograph thus combines cinematic interest with documentary value, spontaneously capturing the atmosphere of Paris during the Trente Glorieuses through the camera’s lens and behind the scenes of a film shoot inspired by the world of Françoise Sagan.
