MARILYN MONROE ON A BEACH - Lot 18
MARILYN MONROE ON A BEACH With Clark Gable, during the filming of John Huston's movie "The Misfits," 1961 2 photos, vintage silver gelatin prints, stamped (on one reverse), labeled (on one reverse), and annotated on both 20.2 x 25.5 cm each Folds Note: These two photographs feature Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable on the set of *The Misfits*, directed by John Huston in 1961. Taken on location during a beach scene, they show the actors preparing or taking a break between takes. The vast desert landscapes, natural light, and simplicity of the compositions evoke the melancholic atmosphere of the film, considered one of the great classics of American cinema. These images take on special significance as this was Clark Gable’s final completed film and the last one finished during Marilyn Monroe’s lifetime, giving the work a unique place in the history of cinema. These two vintage silver gelatin prints, bearing production stamps, labels, and annotations, are valuable on-set documents. Offering a glimpse behind the scenes of a now-legendary film shoot, they illustrate the meeting of two Hollywood icons at the twilight of their careers. A rare set that will appeal to collectors of film photography, memorabilia dedicated to Marilyn Monroe, and the great Hollywood films of the 1960s. Some signs of handling along certain edges (a small tear on one).
