CATHERINE DENEUVE AND JACQUES PERRIN - Lot 26
CATHERINE DENEUVE AND JACQUES PERRIN During the filming of Grisha Dabat’s movie *Et Satan conduit le bal* (And Satan Leads the Dance), co-written and produced by Roger Vadim, 1962. Photo, vintage silver print, annotated on the back. 24.3 x 18 cm. Some signs of handling visible only when held up to the light. And dust (outside the frame). Note: Directed by Grisha Dabat in 1962, *Et Satan conduit le bal* is one of Catherine Deneuve’s earliest films. In it, she plays Manuelle, the daughter of a former gangster, opposite Jacques Perrin as Ivan, a charming yet self-serving young man. Gathered with two other couples in a villa on the Catalan coast, the characters engage in a game of seduction, jealousy, and manipulation that gradually turns their vacation into a drama. Shot primarily in Collioure and Port-Vendres, the film bears the influence of Roger Vadim, who co-wrote the screenplay and dialogue and served as one of its executive producers. The cinematography was handled by Raoul Coutard, a leading figure of the French New Wave.
