MICHELINE PRESLES AND COLETTE RIPERT - Lot 50
MICHELINE PRESLES AND COLETTE RIPERT During the filming of Jean Delannoy’s movie “Les Jeux sont faits,” based on the work by Jean-Paul Sartre, 1947. Photo by Paul Ronald, vintage silver print; credits (including the photographer) appear in the image. 24 x 18 cm, including white borders. Note: Micheline Presle and Colette Ripert play the sisters Ève Charlier and Lucette in *Les Jeux sont faits*, directed by Jean Delannoy in 1947. Poisoned by her husband, Ève passes into the afterlife, where she meets Pierre Dumaine, a member of the Resistance who was assassinated. Because they were destined to love one another, both are granted the chance to return to Earth for twenty-four hours. But Ève cannot turn away from Lucette, whom she seeks to protect from her husband’s schemes. This fantastical drama thus explores individual freedom, destiny, and the weight of one’s commitments. It is not exactly an adaptation of an earlier work: Jean-Paul Sartre first wrote *Les Jeux sont faits* as a film screenplay, published in 1947.
