TERENCE FISHER AND CHRISTOPHER LEE - Lot 83
TERENCE FISHER AND CHRISTOPHER LEE A successful duo—director and actor in Hammer Horror films—during the filming of "The Devils Ride Out" (The Virgins of Satan), 1968. Photo: vintage silver gelatin print, Note: A major duo in British fantasy cinema, director Terence Fisher and actor Christopher Lee contributed significantly to the golden age of Hammer Films. Their collaboration revitalized the great figures of Gothic cinema, notably with *Frankenstein Escapes* in 1957, *Dracula’s Nightmare* in 1958, and *The Curse of the Pharaohs* in 1959. In *The Devil Rides Out* (1968), an adaptation of the novel by Dennis Wheatley, Christopher Lee, making a rare departure from his usual roles as monsters or villains, portrays the Duke of Richleau, an aristocrat and occult expert who confronts a satanic cult. The film is now considered one of Hammer’s most notable works. Annotated on the back. 20.2 x 25.8 cm. Corner tips have been repaired.
