EVA-BRITT STRANDBERG AND JEAN-PIERRE LEAUD - Lot 121
EVA-BRITT STRANDBERG AND JEAN-PIERRE LEAUD "Masculin Féminin," a film by Jean-Luc Godard, 1966. Vintage promotional brochure, four pages illustrated with photos from the film (featuring Brigitte Bardot in one image); layout by Georges Kerfyser. 31.5 x 24 cm. Note: In *Masculin Féminin*, Jean-Pierre Léaud plays Paul, a young man who has returned from military service, is politically active, and is in love with Madeleine, a singer portrayed by Chantal Goya. Swedish actress Eva-Britt Strandberg plays the supporting role of Lavinia. A Franco-Swedish co-production loosely based on two short stories by Maupassant, *La Femme de Paul* and *Le Signe*, the film blends a love story, interviews, sociological observations, and references to current events. In it, Godard paints a portrait of a generation caught between political activism and consumer society, summed up by the phrase “the children of Marx and Coca-Cola.” Brigitte Bardot makes a brief appearance as herself, rehearsing a script with Antoine Bourseiller in a café.
