JEANNE HELBLING AND BUSTER KEATON - Lot 171
JEANNE HELBLING AND BUSTER KEATON Scene from the French MGM film by C. Autant-Lara & E. Brophy, 1931. Photograph, vintage silver print, stamped and captioned on the back. 20.3 x 25.8 cm, including white borders. Note: This is from *Buster Gets Married*, a Franco-American comedy directed by Claude Autant-Lara and Edward Brophy. This MGM production is the French version of *Parlor, Bedroom and Bath*, directed the same year by Edward Sedgwick. At the dawn of the talkie era, studios would often shoot multiple language versions of the same film, with a partially new cast. Buster Keaton reprises his role as Reggie Irving, a humble painter unwittingly drawn into a scheme designed to make him appear as an irresistible seducer. Jeanne Helbling plays Angélique Embrey, whom Reggie’s circle is trying to marry off to him. The film was shot in Hollywood and released in France on December 23, 1931.
