ANN TODD AND GREGORY PECK - Lot 210
ANN TODD AND GREGORY PECK During the filming of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Paradine Case" (The Carradine Trial), 1947. Photo, vintage silver print, stamped (including date) and annotated on the back. 2 x 20.4 cm. Handled corner tips (one in particular). Note: Gregory Peck plays Anthony Keane, a brilliant London lawyer tasked with defending Maddalena Anna Paradine, played by Alida Valli, who is accused of poisoning her blind husband. Ann Todd plays Gay Keane, the lawyer’s wife. She watches with concern as her husband becomes increasingly fascinated by his client, but nevertheless encourages him to continue her defense. Adapted from the novel by Robert Smythe Hichens, this courtroom drama explores not so much the search for the culprit as the emotional blindness and the fragility of the Keane couple. Produced by David O. Selznick, the film is also Hitchcock’s final project under contract with him. Premiered in Los Angeles in December 1947, it received its general U.S. release in 1948. Source
