CATHERINE DENEUVE AND ALAIN DELON - Lot 235
CATHERINE DENEUVE AND ALAIN DELON During the filming of Jean-Pierre Melville’s movie “Un flic,” 1972. Photo by Jean-Pierre Bonnotte, original silver print, photographer’s stamp, captioned and annotated on the back. 15.5 x 22.6 cm. Note: Alain Delon plays Édouard Coleman, a solitary Parisian police commissioner on the trail of a gang of robbers led by Simon, a nightclub owner and friend of the police officer. Catherine Deneuve plays Cathy, Simon’s girlfriend but also Coleman’s lover. Elegant and enigmatic, she finds herself at the center of a love triangle where feelings, loyalty, and betrayal remain deliberately ambiguous. Her costumes were designed by Yves Saint Laurent. Jean-Pierre Melville’s final film and his third collaboration with Alain Delon after *Le Samouraï* and *Le Cercle rouge*, *Un flic* takes his cold, minimalist universe to the extreme, dominated by loneliness and the uncertain boundary between police and criminals.
