BRIGITTE BARDOT AND JEANNE MOREAU - Lot 7
BRIGITTE BARDOT AND JEANNE MOREAU During the filming of Louis Malle’s movie “Viva Maria!”, with Pierre Cardin as co-costume designer, 1965. 2 photos, vintage silver gelatin prints, annotated on the back. 18.3 x 23.6 cm each. Some signs of handling. Note: Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau play two vaudeville performers with the same first name in *Viva Maria!*, an adventure comedy directed by Louis Malle in 1965. Set in an imaginary Central American country in the early 20th century, the two Marias fall in love with the revolutionary Florès, played by George Hamilton, and are subsequently swept up in a popular uprising. The film brings together two major figures of French cinema in a duo built on the contrast between their personalities and acting styles. The costumes worn by Jeanne Moreau were designed by Ghislain Uhry and made by Pierre Cardin—so Cardin should not be credited solely as their designer.
