In a few words:

"Partie de bateau" painted between 1877 and 1878, presented at the fourth Impressionist exhibition in 1879, with the largest group of 35 works exhibited during the artist's lifetime.

Sometimes called "Le Canotier au haut-de-forme", this oil on canvas depicts an elegantly dressed young man sitting at the bottom of an elegant canoe, gazing into the distance, embodying luxury, calm and a certain voluptuousness. It also marks the development of water sports at the time.

Tight framing, characteristic of Caillebotte, the viewer participating in the effort of the gentleman.

In your diaries, an exhibition of the artist is scheduled for the fall of 2024, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Impressionism
