Pop Art / Op art : quelles différences en 1 mn ?

Did you know that?

What differences do you make between Pop Art and Op Art?

Pop Art is inspired by mass culture and consumer society.

Pop Art artists represent art as a consumable product: ephemeral, cheap and disposable. Advertising, media, comics and television were the main sources of inspiration for this movement.

Among the most famous: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring or Jasper Johns.

The expression "Op Art", or "optical art", was adopted to gather abstract artists working on optical effects and illusions.

Among the most famous: Victor Vasarely, Bridget Riley, Jesus rafael Soto or Yvaral

Technically, unlike Op Art, which was used on a variety of materials, Pop Art drawings were often applied to paper dresses, in accordance with the idea of disposability and consumerism advocated by Pop Art.
