MOTOR CYCLING - STAYER / DEMI-FOND RACES, championships: Vic - Lot 233
MOTOR CYCLING - STAYER / DEMI-FOND RACES, championships: Victor Linart, Lacqueray, 1933. 2 photos, vintage silver prints Captioned (with dates) on back Note: Photographs devoted to motorized middle-distance cycling (stayer racing), dated 1933, showing riders Victor Linart and Lacquehay at championships. Half-distance racing, a popular discipline of track cycling in the first half of the XXᵉ century, consisted of following a motorcycle trainer enabling riders to reach high speeds on velodromes. These competitions, spectacular and well attended by the public, were regularly staged at major European velodromes. Belgian Victor Linart (1893-1972) was one of the great specialists in this discipline, winning several world middle-distance championships between the 1920s and 1930s. These photographs illustrate the iconography of track cycling and middle-distance competitions between the two world wars. Dimensions: 13 x 18 cm each Annotations on one edge of the images.
