ANNA KARINA AND JEAN-PAUL BELMONDO - Lot 137
ANNA KARINA AND JEAN-PAUL BELMONDO During the filming of Jean-Luc Godard’s movie “Pierrot le fou,” 1965. Photo, vintage silver print, stamped by the production company and annotated on the back. 12.8 x 17.8 cm. Note: Four years after *Une femme est une femme*, Anna Karina and Jean-Paul Belmondo reunited in front of Jean-Luc Godard’s camera. Belmondo plays Ferdinand Griffon, soon nicknamed “Pierrot,” who abandons his bourgeois life to follow Marianne Renoir, played by Karina. Pursued by traffickers linked to the OAS, the two lovers set off on the road toward the Mediterranean. Loosely based on a crime novel by Lionel White, the film blends adventure, love, violence, literary references, and narrative breaks. Raoul Coutard’s cinematography, shot in primary colors, helps make this road movie an iconic work of the French New Wave.
