FRANCOISE DORLEAC AND CATHERINE DENEUVE - Lot 267
FRANCOISE DORLEAC AND CATHERINE DENEUVE During the filming of Jacques Demy's movie "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort," 1967. Photo by Hélène Jeanbrau, vintage silver gelatin print, stamped (including the photographer’s and production company’s stamps) and annotated on the back. 12.8 x 17.7 cm. Note: Sisters in real life, Françoise Dorléac and Catherine Deneuve play the Garnier twins: Solange, a music teacher dreaming of becoming a composer, and Delphine, a dance teacher hoping to make it in Paris. Centered on their romantic and artistic aspirations, Jacques Demy transforms Rochefort into the setting for a musical, brought to life by Michel Legrand’s songs, Norman Maen’s choreography, and the colors designed by set decorator Bernard Evein. The presence of the two actresses lends the film a particularly radiant chemistry. The Cinémathèque Française has also confirmed Hélène Jeanbrau as the set photographer.
